The Industry: Tips for future stars
by Geri C.
Entering the music and modeling industry can be a very difficult process. Here's some good advice taken from Geri's column, "The Industry".
1) When you have a passion for writing, modeling, music or acting try not to allow monetary compensation (or the lack there of) to become an issue. The true reward is in the journey to reach your goal. If you haven't been featured in magazines, on-stage shows or performances take steps to accomplish these goals. Credits such as these will increase your chances in landing the compensated roles. You can't expect to be paid for unseen talent.
2) One important thing to consider is the networking factor. Networking is definitely the key. It’s important not only to know the names of industry professionals, moguls and supermodels, but to also be familiar with their background and to know their angle.
That lets people know how serious you are and they will respect you. Stay content and don't get a big head when you gain an ounce of success.
3) Remember everything doesn't happen over night so be patient and focus on making your dreams come true.
